ATV, ORV, & UTV Riders - Explore Missouri’s outdoors from a different angle! St. Joe State Park provides hours of fun for off-road enthusiasts with 54 miles available for riding. Trails wind through the wooded portions of the park as well as through acres of sand flats. CLICK HERE for a map and details on the ORV Trail System. St. Joe State Park offers one of the most popular ORV areas in the Midwest.

The ORV Trail System consists of 54 miles of trail, some of which are a surface of tailings (crushed limestone rock, a sandlike substance referred to as the 'sandflats). The remaining area is wooded hillsides. Motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-side vehicles (also known as Utility All-Terrain Vehicles - UTVs), dune buggies, four-wheel-drive vehicles, and snowmobiles are permitted to use the area. Specific safety gear is required. Please review the complete list of rules and regulations.

Only motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs are permitted to use the trails in the woods. The other larger vehicles, due to their size, are restricted to the sand-flats, which have a vegetated desertlike appearance, and therefore are not permitted to enter at the Donnelly - LaMear Trailhead. Trails are identified with a three-digit numbering system. The '100' trail, which circumvents the entire riding area, is identified with blue blazes. The wooded trails vary in difficulty from relatively flat earthen-type surfaces to very steep, rocky, eroded slopes.

ATV & ORV riders must purchase an official state park permit to be admitted to the trails/park. There are no fees and no special permit needed to hike, bike, or walk.

ATV/ORV Permits MUST be purchased via the official Missouri State Parks website. You can access that site by CLICKING HERE. Once purchased, just use the digital receipt on your cell phone to enter the park from the Donnelly-LaMear Trailhead!

At the Donnelly - LaMear Trailhead, there is lots of parking, restrooms, and brand-new terrain to explore.

This is a convenient new entrance to a beautiful state park located right here in Park Hills!
